About

What is the Power of Prestige?

Founded by Dr Celia Lam and Dr Jackie Raphael-Luu, PoP: Power of Prestige is an annual International Conference and Book Series.

Prestige is the status or reputation associated with renown, acclaim or glamour. In contemporary mediated societies, this status is often afforded through the public visibility of legacy or digital media systems. Our endeavour is to explore the power associated with prestige as well as the power that prestige brings. Originating from celebrity studies, the scope of our exploration intersects with other fields where prestige and power operate such as advertising, activism, history, politics, the economy and much more.
